To ensure that we are operating safely, we have partnered with Veritas Testing to develop a robust testing and contact-tracing regime that will protect the health and well-being of our students and local residents.
Their team of epidemiologists and medical professionals are working around the clock to develop a sophisticated, location-specific protocol that will allow our students to relive the pre-pandemic college experience.
For our inaugural program, our selected hotel will already follow all local, state, and CDC guidelines for hosting travelers during the pandemic, and we will be working closely with them to strengthen their safety measures to meet our rigorous standards.
To supplement existing hotel security measures, The U Experience will also be providing 24/7 on-site security to ensure student safety.
Given the strong precedent established in Orlando by the NBA, we believe that Florida represents a perfect destination for the introduction of bubble travel. We are looking forward to showcasing how the bubble model can be applied by smaller enterprises to operate safely during the pandemic.
We believe that innovative quarantining, testing, and contact-tracing solutions will make our campus the safest possible option for students this fall.
Our COVID Policy
Our COVID-19 policy, building on existing CDC guidelines, is designed bespoke for The U Experience by Veritas Testing and their team of board certified epidemiologists. All students will be tested the moment they arrive on campus and will be placed into self-quarantine until they produce negative test results. By creating a completely self-contained campus for students and eliminating outside exposure, we reduce the risk to our already low-risk student body. In addition, students will receive frequent testing and daily temperature checks throughout the fall semester to ensure that any unavoidable exposure will be rapidly identified and isolated.
The U Experience testing regime utilizes the FDA approved Veritor SARS-CoV-2 Antigen FIA, a rapid point-of-care test for the detection of COVID-19. The diagnostic test quickly detects fragments of proteins found on or within the virus by testing samples collected from the nasal cavity using swabs, according to the FDA. Prior to arriving on campus, all students will be provided with and must closely review our COVID-19 Policy.
The rapid COVID test by BD — called the Veritor 2 SARS Antigen FIA — is what is known as an “antigen” test. Designed to detect specific proteins in the body from the virus that causes COVID-19 in respiratory specimens (nasal swabs), the Veritor test can produce results in as little as 15 minutes. This test specifically has recently been approved for emergency use authorization (EUA) by the FDA.
Antigen tests detect proteins found in the virus that causes COVID-19, unlike other COVID-19 tests. For example: one of the most common tests available are PCR tests which detect genetic material from the virus.
If you were to test negative for COVID-19 after an antigen test, yet still suspect you have the virus, a medical professional may recommend a PCR test to help provide clarity
- The results obtained from your test can help a medical professional make informed decisions when it comes to the best course of care
- The results can help prevent the possible spread of COVID-19 to members of the community
- You get results in a shorter amount of time, giving peace of mind and allowing more people to be tested each day.
